Day 4 - Mass Air Flow sensor(MAF)

pin 1 - none
pin 2 - +12V
pin 3 - ground
pin 4 - +5V
pin 5 - signal

What voltage did you get when you first powered up the sensor without passing air over the sensor?
1.021V
How did the voltage change when air was passed over the sensor?
As air was passed over the sensor, the voltage increased(2-3V).

A MAF(Mass Air Flow) sensor measures the volume and density of the air entering the engine so ECU can calculate how much fuel is needed to maintain the correct fuel mixture. The sensor is located between a an air cleaner and a throttle body where it can measure incoming air.The MAF sensor converts the incoming amount of air into voltage signal.
The primary components of a hot wire MAF sensor are a thermistor, a platinum hot wire and electronic contorl circuit. The thermistor measures the temperature of the incoming air. An increase in air flow will cause the hot wire to lose heat faster and the electronic control circuit will compensate by sending more current through the wire.
