Air Temperature Sensor or Intake Air Temperature

It detects the temperature of the incoming air stream. On vehicles equipped with a Mass Air Flow Sensor, the Air Temperature sensor is part of the MAF sensor. It works the same as a coolant temperature sensor. (NTC - thermistors with high electrical resistance when they are cold, the resistance drops as they heat up)
